Liz's Wedding ShowerLiz's Wedding shower was held on a seasonble afternoon just after Thanksgiving, 1999. In attendance were a stunning assemblage of family friends (and even some men!). Click on a photo to enlarge it. Once you have finished viewing the larger picture, use the "Back" button on your browser to return to the listings. There are approximately 80 photos, and there is a "highlight reel" of fewer photos, for anyone who would like a sampling of the experience. These photos depict the beginning of the shower itself, the "traditional ceremony" of New England Wedding showers, and the beginning of gift-opening photos. |

Liz was asked to sit in a festooned rocking chair (the same one where Kevin was rocked as a child!), and told to expect the unexpected! |
Friends and soon-to-be family gathered around Liz in the sunroom. |
Mom stood over Liz's shoulder and began the ceremony by reading from the "traditional book of lore" |
Chris and Brent, long-time friends of Kevin (and the rest of us!) selflessly volunteered for "elf" duty, and helped out behind the scenes. (More on that later!) |

Kevin helps Liz blow out a candle (while the aforementioned elves stack presents quietly beside her!) |
After the candle is blown out, Mom reveals that Liz's diary, from one year in the future has just appeared on the table! She reads from it and Kevin begins to catch on that maybe, just maybe, there's going to be some ribbing at his expense today... |
Mom reads Liz a sentence with a cryptic ending from LIz's diary: "My wedding day was the happiest day of my. . ." Liz is handed a present, and lo and behold: |
Life cereal! (The full sentence: "My wedding day was the happiest day of my life.") Liz suddenly understands that the Hass family is well-meaning AND cheesy! |
Kevin and Liz relax, sensing more puns to come. (Shared stress makes a relationship stronger, right?) |
Liz and Kevin anticipate the end of the sentence: "When I saw Kevin I knew he was my Prince . . . " |
Prince Charmin! (insert groan here. . . ) |
"Yes! I'm 'Mr. Clean!' I knew it!" |
"But we DID meet sometime 'After 8', how did they know? |
Can you find the two 'elves' in this picture? (Liz never saw Chris in the background! Where was Katherine getting all those presents?) |
Liz takes her cereal very seriously . . . |
Mom comes to the end of her story, and sets Liz's "diary" aside. |
Expectations are high as the focus shifts to the present table, piled high with well-wishes! |
The first gift: a stunning wreath made of corn husks! |
A beautiful porcelain picture frame complete with a model-photo that looked surprisingly like Liz. |
"This is an egg. I mean, it's a balloon, but it has something inside it! Are those coookie cutters? There are about ten in there! How do they DO that?" |
Mom smiles as the balloon creation is passed around. How DO they do that? |
What shower would be complete without cookware? "You can use it on the stove AND in the oven!" |
Mrs. Smith's masterpiece: "Strainer of Essentials." It's art, it took our breath away, and it had spoons. What more could one want? |
We'll tell you what more we could want: Mrs. Mason took EVERY ribbon from each package and wove them on the spot into a wedding bouquet to be used at the wedding rehearsal! |
Cooperation is the key to any relationship, right? Kevin lends a hand with the present opening. |
An emotional moment. "There are MORE presents?" |
A happy smile |
The shower brought on happy reminiscences in the participants. |
A salsa set is unveiled and Kevin chimes in: "Do you KNOW how much I like salsa?" |
